Step4Change
The Step4Change walking challenge is back!
We’re asking you and your workplace or community group to walk 4 miles on International Women’s Day (or a day of your choice!) in recognition of the 1 in 4 women who will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime.
By taking on this fundraising challenge, you’ll be helping to make a real difference to the lives of women and their children experiencing abuse.
Convo4Change
Domestic abuse is still widely misunderstood and too often mishandled. But change starts with conversation, and you can be the catalyst.
This International Women’s Day, why not host an event with your workplace, school, or community group to raise awareness and vital funds for Refuge?
Whether it’s a coffee morning or a panel of guest speakers, we’ve got everything you need to get started.
Together, we can break the silence and create real change.
Campaign4Change
This International Women’s Day, we’re inviting you to learn, to speak out and to take action – during IWD and beyond. Join us in our mission to create a world where domestic abuse is no longer tolerated.
We’ve created a 4-step plan of how you can help Campaign4Change:
- Take our quiz: Recognising abuse in your relationship or that of someone you know, is the first step. Take our quiz to find out if you can spot the red flags.
- Share the Stats: Refuge was first established in the 1970s where domestic abuse was seen as a private family matter, to be dealt with behind closed doors. The numbers tell us that 1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime and we strive everyday to make it clear that domestic abuse is not an isolated incident, but a systemic problem in our society. Find out how prevalent domestic abuse is in your local area here.
- Post on socials: Help spread the word that 1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime by sharing this image on your social media story or feed post with #4Change and #IWD2026.
- Download our poster signposting the National Domestic Abuse Helpline and display it in your office or in your local community spaces. Simply by having the Helpline details readily available, you could help save a life.

Remember4Change
Inspirational women are at the heart of everything we do here at Refuge.
While many women such as Emmeline Pankhurst and Zara Aleena are longer with us, they have left a legacy that has shaped the world we live in today. It is in the memories of them, and all the other inspirational women who have come before us, that we tirelessly work for women’s rights and freedoms.
This International Women’s Day, we are asking that you join us in posting a photo or message of an inspirational woman who is no longer with us with #4Change.
Together we can ensure that no woman or her story is ever forgotten.
